Munsha is the alias of Daniela Lunelli . I’m an italian singer , cellist , sound designer and performer based in Berlin since 2014 .
I began studying piano at the age of eight . Soon after , singing and cello became increasingly my areas of interest , which culminated in 1994 in studying at the Conservatory of Music of Salerno . While still doing academic courses , I got involved in several rock , dark-wave and punk bands . Over a longer period of time , contemporary music , avant-garde of the 1900s and voice research were my main focus .
After graduating in singing under the guidance of maestro Daniela Del Monaco , I attended workshops and continued education courses at the International Academy of Music in Milan and the Conservatory of Padua .
Simultaneously , I started my training as cutter , sound designer and producer and post producer for movie and television . As a result , I got in touch with several audio editing platforms, as freelancer as well as intern at Italian film production institutions such as Cinecittà , Fonoroma and International Recording .
At the end of my training as a multimedia sound designer , I left the cello course at the Conservatory and the classic music to devote myself entirely to the composition and performance of my own musical productions . I shifted to contemporary and electronic music and to research of new languages , testing new forms of “ sound dialogues ” .
My double background , academic and as musician on stage , has created a style in which the rhythmic grit of rock music nestles and coexists in unconventional harmonic structures ; concrete sounds merge into darkwave melodies ; harmonic suspensions into electronics . The result is a complex of sounds in which no element is protagonist , but each is essential to the existence of the structure itself : the rhythm parts appear and disappear to open in noise and minimalist environments , in which the voice is the key factor of it but at the same time harmonic part of a whole . Everything bounces like a ball , roles are independent , unrelated to space and time .
The subsequent recordings of “ 33 ” and “ Hybrid001 ” were the logical result of my academic studies and the experiences as a live performer .
“ 33 ” was released in 2012 , as an independent sound production , focusing on the connection between my “ stalker number ” [ the number 33 has played a significal role in my life since I remember ] and his link with history , maths , religion and so on . I performed it as a game , walking on the timeline to the entry in my 33rd year : 33 days , each day a song .
” Hybrid001 ” was produced in 2014 , on the occasion of my first concert in Berlin . Every single CD had my own handmade artwork . This was meant to be a gift for each visitor of the perfomance .
The first official release came in March 2016 . The EP “ Who Will Play After? “ was release by Perfect Entropy Production , recorded and procuced at FarF StudiO . A DELUXE EDITION contains the 4 songs of the original EP plus 7 remixes and reworks from other artists .
My music appears also in “ Grenzgänger “ OST by Schneider TM , “ Solar Sound ” and ” Sc009: Glitch Compilation ” .
From 2009 I join Max Maffia & The Empty Daybox , an acoustic instrumental ambient band . We released our first album ” Happiness is a tree ” in 2012 and the EP ” A better place ” in 2015 on Daybox Records available on CDBaby and all the major digital download provider services .
From 2016 I join 42wiredbeasts and Uccellino Giallo Film Production.
I also collaborated and shared the stage with Bob Rutman , Jochen Arbeit , Tatwerk | Performative Forschung , Renato Rivolta and International Academy of Music in Milan , Grim [ Group for Research and Improvisation ] , Veronica Cruciani , Cristina Vetrone , Salvatore Gatto , Myriam Lattanzio , Fine Art Academy of Neaples and others .
I’m the author of several musical theater performances and sound installations : ” Shining ”  , “ Amen “  , ” Nex Generation – on a tale of Peppino Impastato ”  , ” Disimagination – Rotture non programmate di un dialogo amoroso ”  , ” Take Away – The Vox Burger ”  , ” Abnormal ”  , ” Divina Vasaia ”  , ” Duality for solo voice ”  , ” Zanclide ”  , ” Maquillage ”  , ” Tattica 001 ”  .
Also , I co-signed multidisciplinary productions like ” Affaticamento ”  , ” Qualcuno voleva annegarvisi dentro ”  , ” Come un lago senza fango , Sir , come un cielo d’estate sempre blu ”  , ” Processionea ”  , “ La Macchina Inutile ”  .
Teaching multiple musical disciplines and audio pre- and post- production for films and television have been an intrinsic part of my career since 2001 , besides concerts and performing arts .
